The Organisation

Ngaanyatjarra Council Corporate Services (including Financial Services) is in Alice Springs. Corporate Services provides a range of functions, including coordination of Council activities, Human Resources, Information and Communications Technology and Financial Services. 

In the 20 years since the Council’s formation, membership has expanded from five original communities of Milyatjarra (Warburton), Irrunytju (Wingellina), Papulankutja (Blackstone), Mantamaru (Jameson) and Warakurna - to 12 communities with the addition of Tjirrkarli, Paatjarr, Wanarn, Kanpa and Tjurkurla, Cosmo Newberry and Kiwirrkurra.


The Council is Australia's tenth-largest Indigenous corporation and employs 143 people. 


Ngaanyatjarra Council has a Coordinator who works to implement decisions made by the Ngaanyatjarra Council Board. Ngaanyatjarra HR is responsible for recruiting all positions directly employed by the NG Council. Financial Services handles all financial oversight and bookkeeping for all twelve communities, Ngaanyatjarra Council and Ngaanyatjarra Agencies (excluding auditing performed annually by independent auditors). 


Board/Structure 

The Ngaanyatjarra Council Group 18 Member Board of Directors is made up of: 


  • Council Members Elected Chairperson 
  • Community elected Chairpersons of each of the 11 Ngaanyatjarra Communities 
  • Four female-elected Women Directors 
  • Two non-member Directors 

Ngaanyatjarra Council Directors also serve concurrently as the Board of Ngaanyatjarra Services and the Ngaanyatjarra Health Service. The Boards of Ngaanyatjarra Land Council and Yarnangu Ngaanyatjarraku Parna Registered Native Title Body Corporate are the same excluding non-member directors.
