 Ngaanyatjarra Services is an incorporated not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation reporting to its parent entity Ngaanyatjarra Council. Both Services and Council are overseen by a Board Committee made up of Indigenous people living throughout communities in the Central Desert regions of Western Australia. Ngaanyatjarra Services aims to provide key trade and technical support to the lands to ensure the reliable delivery of power, potable water and effluent services to the communities. 

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic industrial Electrician to assist the Essential Services team in the delivery of planned and preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs (including emergency call-outs) to all our power, water and effluent assets throughout the Central Reserves and Goldfield regions in Western Australia.

The role involves: 

Working autonomously or as part of a team on ‘public’ utilities in remote central Western Australia. While on shift you will be generally required to assist administration in the planning of your own work routine to cover the next 21 day run as well as being on standby for any emergency or unplanned maintenance.

It is essential that you have demonstrated experience in the electrical maintenance and operation of parallel diesel power generating units and the associated switchboards, controllers and engine sensors. 

Your duties will include: 

The servicing, repairs, fault-finding and upgrades to the following type of assets:

  • Diesel power stations including genset units with electrical output capacities ranging from 50kW to 400kW and the switchboards that operate these.  
  • Diesel/electric, electric, diesel/mechanical, pneumatic and solar powered bore systems.
  • Telemetric control and water transfer/storage/treatment systems.
  • Effluent transfer and control systems.
  • Power distribution networks both underground and aerial.
  • Assist with other duties as directed to ensure the effective operation of the maintenance team and essential services assets.
  • Reporting of work completions, materials ordering, asset condition and SHQE as required by management


Demonstrated skills and accreditation:

  • Current WA Electrician’s licence.
  • Current ‘C’ driver’s licence and preferably also a ‘HR’ or ‘HC’.  
  • Able to pass DAS and Employer Medicals
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Excellent IT literacy in MS Office Suite and be competent in enabling mobile broadband/wi-fi/satellite connectivity across a range of devices with minimal support.
  • Current, White Card, EWP, Confined Spaces, Working at Heights, First Aid Course is desirable.
  • Exposure to industrial Electrical/Mechanical maintenance desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge in the maintenance of power generation/ distribution systems is desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge of water treatment and disinfection systems is desirable.

This position is FIFO from within Western Australia, working a roster of 21 days per month.
