HR / WHS Officer Perth


The Council is seeking a dynamic and autonomous person to undertake the role of HR/WHS Officer. This position will suit a person with a ‘can do’ approach who will display a strong use of initiative and sense of pride in their work.


About the organisation

Ngaanyatjarra Council (Aboriginal Corporation) represents the interests of around 2000 Ngaanyatjarra, Pintupi and Pitjantjatjara people living in 12 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.

 About the role

The HR/WHS Officer will administer HR / WHS functions within the organisation under the guidance of, and in consultation with the Human Resources Manager.

 Criteria will include but not be limited to:

  • work under the direction of the HR Manager, ensuring accurate employee records are maintained;
  • manage vacancies across 12 remote communities in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands of WA, as well as recruitment requirement in Perth;
  • ability to write and interpret contracts, complying with best FWA best practice and current IR Legislation;
  • a knowledge of current WH&S legislation and willingness to be actively involved in this area;
  • manage the logistics of sourcing relieving staff for Lands based positions, including travel arrangements;
  • liaise with Senior Managers on recruitment and advertising requirements;
  • ability to interpret Awards and impart this knowledge to others in the organisation when required;
  • become an integral part of the recruitment and interview process;

  • Proven experience in the field of Human Resources is essential as is an understanding of current Fair Work Australia and WH&S legislation.



An attractive salary is offered and will be determined dependent on proven experience.  Additionally the successful applicant will receive attractive PBI salary packaging arrangements of which $15,900 can be earned tax free, 9.5% superannuation, and 5 weeks leave per annum. The position is located in our Perth office in the Perth CBD.
